Eighty Eight . . .

Hot Air Balloon
By Stormcat

I’d like to get myself a hot air balloon . . .
A big pretty one of at least twenty colors
-pieced together like a patchwork quilt-
with a giant wicker basket to ride in

Then I’d go up and never come back

I’d go to the world of stars and snowflakes
looking for a certain one that lives there
and when I've found her I’d never leave
because it would be good and peaceful

I’d stay and love her forever . . . Just her!

And when the world below us dies
from greed, pollution, and malcontent
we’ll look into each other’s eyes, for a time,
and morn from the senselessness of it all.

  1. and perhaps this is a bit like how our gods feel...above it...and mourning our stupidity...if only we could rise above...on a balloon or otherwise...ha

  2. Sounds wonderful, Stormcat. I think we all yearn for such a place of peace where we could get beyond all of the problems of the world; and to be with one who truly loves is like icing on the cake!

  3. I'm so happy to see you back here today and with a poem that lifts me up in this dream. The image is neat, and the poem even better. I resonate with the words of your poem and the stanza structure that lifts gradually. Love what Brian said above.

  11. This reminds me of that song "Up, Up, and Away". It has that same sort of feel about it. Yes, I think all of us have that same wish or dream at some point in time,
